Pastor Fitz
Fitzgerald Carter is a native of Virginia, who at the age of 17 preached his first sermon here at DC360 Church (formerly Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle). Since then, he has been privileged to serve in youth ministry, missions, and music education. In addition to D.C., he’s worked and served in Florida, West Africa, and the Caribbean.
As the Lead Pastor of DC360 Church, he has almost 50 years of ministry experience and has been a licensed and ordained minister for over 40 years. Pastor Fitz holds two degrees from Southeastern University: a bachelor’s degree in education and Biblical Studies. He’s also undertaking a master’s degree in leadership. He has authored and published two books, “The Double Duty Pastor” and “Tattoo My Heart”. His love and passion for worship also keep him writing music. His latest single, “Tattoo My Heart”, is now streaming on all major platforms.
Pastor Fitz is known for his down-to-earth and energetic teaching style. He has a deep love for our nation’s capital and its residents. He is devoted to expanding God’s Kingdom through the discipleship mission of DC360 Church; a mission to be God’s house for all people. Not just another church in D.C., but a community and connection to God’s hope, healing, and purpose.
When Pastor Fitz returned to D.C. in 2006, he could see the landscape around the entire city shifting in a new direction and with lots of demographic, social, and economic changes. This led to the prayer-filled and long journey to redevelop, rebuild, and relaunch. Pastor Fitz believes that it’s the responsibility of every generation to resource and leave a strong and healthy legacy for the next to build on; that’s what he found at Bethel. He’s humbly honored that God entrusted him with the vision, and the congregation trusted him to run with the vision, to build anew while holding fast to the strong foundational pillars of a century old ministry in the beloved city of Washington, D.C.
Pastor Fitz is married to Sophia Carter, his best friend of almost 40 years.
Sophia Carter
Sophia Carter is a native of the Cayman Islands. While attending university in Florida, she met Fitzgerald. The two have been in courtship and marriage for over 35 years. Together they are the proud parents of a daughter and a son, ecstatic grandparents of a granddaughter, and cherish one daughter-in-love.
As the Executive Pastor of DC360 Church, Sophia shares Pastor Fitz’s heart for discipleship, and she has a passion for transformational leadership. Sophia oversees ministry operations and empowers teams to create environments where lives are transformed through Jesus Christ and the impactful ministries of DC360 Church.
Although Sophia has been walking and leading with Pastor Fitz in ministry, she did not step into pastoral leadership until after ordination in 2019. She also brings to her pastoral role over 20 years of Human Resources and management acumen. She holds an MSc Degree in HRM from the University of Portsmouth, UK, along with other professional designations. Like Pastor Fitz, she too is an aspiring author and is excited about the release of a children’s book later this year (2025).
Sophia believes in leading like Jesus and serving others with humility, love, and purpose. To her, leadership means lifting others up, listening well, and always leading with heart and transparency.
